Description

There’s no denying, that we have a real ”soft spot” for Rock Rose gin, here at Atlas!

A family run business, like us, after contacting them at the start of their journey, back in August 2014, we were the first bar, in Manchester, and outside Scotland, to offer this gin.

It has been a hugely successful Gin of the week, and is regularly in our top selling gins, each month.

Martin and Claire, are the team behind Dunnet Bay Distillers; the producers and creators of Rock Rose.

Martin describes himself as the brains, and Claire, the common sense, behind the business. Mark and Elaine, here at Atlas, are still debating what their roles are…!

Anyway, back to Rock Rose…

Martin is a process engineer, with a passion for gin, Claire is extremely creative, and also has a degree in hospitality and tourism. A match made in gin heaven!

They have a small team of five people, who work with them, including Margaret and Rob, their parents, who wax seal the bottles and Dr Hanna who grows botanicals in their geodome.

The team care passionately about their gin, and every bottle is signed before it leaves the distillery, up on the Northern most coast of Scotland, near Thurso.

Their gin is distilled in a copper pot still called Elizabeth, and only the heart of the distillation is used to create Rock Rose.

Some of the botanicals used are:

juniper, rose root, sea buckthorn, rowan berries, blaeberries, cardamon, coriander seeds and verbena.

The bottle itself, is a work of art, and is now screen printed. Becoming collectable, we often have customers asking for them.

We love Rock Rose with a blueberry garnish and tonic.

Such is its’ complexity, you can experiment way, with other herbal options.
