Description
An artisan, Welsh, gin, made with 20 botanicals, one of which is Seaweed!
Da Mhile started its’ journey in 2012, and is based at Glynhynod Farm in Ceredigion.
Their story goes way further back to 1992, when John Savage-Onstwedder, one of the founders, commisioned a distillery in Campbeltown, in Scotland. This produced the world’s first organic whisky.
It was produced to celebrate the then approaching Millenium, and Da Mhile means just this in Gaelic!
Following the success of the whisky, John applied for a license to run a 350 litre, state of the art, copper pot still.
The rest is history, and John’s son, John-James, now runs the distillery in Wales.
The Seaweed gin was launched on St David’s Day in 2014.
The seaweed is harvested from the Newquay coast of West Wales and also from the West Coast of Ireland.
This gin was designed to complement seafood, and we love it in a dirty Martini!
Equally lovely with tonic and a Kiwi garnish.
