Atlas Bar are extremely proud of the relationship that we have with the Gin Mare team, and we were thrilled when they visited our bar, and also provided our Gin Mare garden bar and furniture, in 2016.
This fantastic Spanish gin, is a true taste of the Mediterranean!
The botanicals include: arbequina olive, citrus, cardamon, coriander, rosemary, thyme, basil and mandarin. The juniper is grown on the families land.
Based in the small fishing town of Vilanova, just outside Barcelona, this gin really is the epitomy of Mediterranean spirit!
The still, resides, in of all places, a small chapel. The property was once a monk’s retreat.
The Ribot family, who own the business, have been in the spirits business since 1835.
Manuel Giro Senior, also famously launched Gin MG, back in 1940. This remains one of Spains’ biggest selling gins.
Most of the botanicals in Gin Mare, are macerated seperately for 36 hours, and then distilled in a 250 litre Florentine still.
This process takes around 4-5 hours.
Six distillations later…. Gin Mare is created.
We recommend this be enjoyed with 1724 tonic, and either an olive, rosemary, basil or thyme, garnish.
Orange is equally lovely if you wish to pull out the citrus elements.
What else can we say? This gin truly is spectacular.
