Made by the Maine Distillery, in Portland, USA, this is a potato based spirit, and is flavoured with traditional gin flavours such as coriander, orris root, cardamon and lemon peel, and is also gluten free.
The potatoes come from Maine, and the water used, is the pure water, from Maine’s Cold River. Thus the name!
The distiller uses a recipe that goes back to the early days of British gin making, but he won’t reveal the secret blend of seven botanicals, which are used.
These are steeped to deliver Cold River’s distinctive flavour.
The gin is triple distilled, in a copper pot, and each bottle is bottled, and finished, by hand, then numbered to ensure its’ authenticity.
Cold River makes an excellent Gimlet, but is also fantastic with tonic, and lime or lemon to garnish.
