FEW hails from Evanston, in the United States of America.
This is a city that suffered Prohibition for over one hundred years, thanks to many of its advocates hailing from its dry streets.
Evanston is now home to this excellent distillery which takes its name from the initials of Frances Elizabeth Willard.
She was an iconic figure in the Temperance Movement.
Unlike any other gin, it’s made using white whisky (un-aged Bourbon) instead of neutral spirits, as its’ base, which gives it a completely unique character!
Eleven botanicals are used, including juniper, orange and lemon peel, vanilla from Tahiti, cassia, hops and grains of paradise.
Whilst the hop flavour is there, this gin is actually quite lemony, and the vanilla cream flavour is also present.
A dry tonic is great with this, such as Syndrome, but try it with a Ginger Ale. It really is rather special.
