Description
So….
Go on…..
Admit it….
The name made you smile! Well we think that’s a good thing, and this is a good gin!
One of the newest additions to our Gin Bible, this gin is made, by Ste and Peter, aka The Lickerish Tooth Company, in Yorkshire.
Originating from Marske, or ”Mask” as it’s known, locally, Ste and Peter wanted to do something different, but didn’t know what?
Having consumed a few too many gins, and strange ideas, they finally hit upon producing their own spirits.
A long time favourite quote describing desire cropped up, in their conversations:
”Standing there, gazing at you, with a Sheep’s Eye, and a Lickerish Tooth.”
The quote from Guys and Dolls; after that, everything fell in to place.
The Lickerish Tooth became the company, and their first venture in to gin, produced Sheep’s Eye Gin: another Gin Bible new entrant.
Everything has meaning in their business, so the toad around the neck of every bottle, harks back to when Doctor’s, during the great plague, wore dead toads around their necks to ward off the plague. This brings Ste and Peter luck!
The still is called Sarah; a character in Guys and Dolls, and a name mentioned in Radioheads ”Lucky,” Ste and his wife, Tracy’s, favourite band ever!
The swirl on the background of every label, is inspired by Stanley Donwood, the artist who provides the artwork, for yes, you’ve guessed it Radiohead.
The gin is created using ten botanicals including: juniper, coriander, angelica and liquorice root,
Clearly, in this gin, ginger is also included.
This is a fun brand, run by fun people, and a visit to their website would be advised. It’s a great read!
Enjoy with a great tonic and ginger garnish, and maybe listen to some Radiohead, too….
